Lists of Certified Professionals:
Below are the most current lists of lead-related construction professionals who have been certified by the California Department of Health Services (DHS).  DHS has certified these individuals to perform lead-related construction work in California.  These lists contains only those individuals who have asked have their names published.  These are not a comprehensive list of all individuals who have been certified by the State. To verify that an individual who does not appear on these lists is currently certified by DHS, look that person up in the Index of Certified Professionals.

Types of Certified Professionals:
DHS certifies people who do five different types of lead-related construction.

• Inspector/Assessor:  An individual who assesses the degree of total lead hazard in residential or public buildings before, during, and/or after lead-related construction work.  (Such individuals typically do inspections, take samples, and interpret test results.)

• Project Designer:  An individual who prepares the specifications, detailed design work, and cost estimates associated with lead-related construction work in residential or public buildings.

• Project Monitor: An individual who oversees lead-related construction work in residential or public buildings to ensure that contract plans and specifications are followed, who evaluates lead-related construction work and who may conduct testing to determine if contamination is adequately controlled.  (Such individuals are often referred to as consultants.)

• Supervisor:  An individual who is responsible for implementing lead-related construction work in residential or public buildings and enforcing work practices that ensure worker safety.  (Such individuals are often referred to as contractors.)

• Worker:  An individual who performs lead-related construction work in residential or public buildings under the direction of a lead-related construction Supervisor.

• Anyone who receives compensation (pay) for conducting lead inspections, lead risk assessments or lead clearance inspections, in any kind of building in California, is required, by State law, to be a Certified Lead Inspector/Assessor.  Certified Lead Project Monitors may perform lead clearance inspections only (Title 17, CCR, Section 36100(a)(1)).

• Anyone who does work designed to reduce or eliminate lead hazards, on any type of building in California, is required by State law, to be a certified Lead Supervisor or Worker (Title 17, CCR, Section 36100(a)(1)).

• Anyone who prepares or designs plans for the abatement of lead from any type of building in California, is required by State law, to be a certified Lead Supervisor, Project Monitor or Project Designer (Title 17, CCR, Section 36100(a)(1)).

If your name appears on the lists and you wish to have it removed, send DHS a written request asking us to take your name off the lists.  Your request must include your complete name, address, phone number and  signature.  DHS will call you to verify that you want your name removed from the lists before doing so.  Send your written request to:
